Attention: Ms. Dorothy Spencer,
Agenda Secretary
Dear Mr. Andrews:

In May of this year, the Board of County Commissioners authorized the
County Manager to negotiate with the Gyrex Corporation for the purchase
of 60 MTB-ls, an electronic precinct count device, with an option to
purchase an additional 470 devices. The company will make delivery of
these 60 devices by mid -September. It is the County's intention to
convert our voting system from the present AVM machines to this new
device by September of 1976. The gradual implementation of this new
system envisions first use at a municipal election in November of 1975,
in roughly half of the County's precincts in March of 1976, and full
implementation in September of 1976.
Since we hope this equipment will be in use in one of the municipalities
in November, we would very much appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate
the device to the Miami City Council at their meeting on the 31st of July.
Allowing time for what ever questions the Commissioners may have, we
should not need more than 30 minutes for our presentation.
Would you be kind enough to place us on the Agenda for the Miami City
Council meeting of July 31st, and advise me of the approximate hour we
should be ready to make the demonstration. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your assistance.
