WHEREAS, there are ten (10) abandoned, partly sunken
vessels along the shores of City owned islands in the Dinner
Key area which are an eyesore and: a potential danger: and _
WHEREAS, notices were attached to all of the vessels
advising the owners to remove the vessels within 48 hours or
the City would exercise its right to consider them abandoned
and have them removed and disposed of; and
WHEREAS, "the "city Purchasing Department has received
several bids from possible vendors and the low bid was
$4,490.00 for removal of these derelicts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Appropriations Ordinance No. 8316, passed
and adopted October 10, 1974 be, and is hereby,amended by
transferring the sum of $4,490.00 from the Marinas Fund Balance
to cover the cost of removing ten (10) abandoned derelicts in
Dinner Key area waters.
Section 2. All ordinances, code sections or parts
thereof in conflict herewith, insofar as they are in conflict,
are hereby repealed.
Section :, Should any patt or provision of this
ordinance be declaredbya cotItt of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, the same shall not affect the Validity of the
ordinance as . a whole, or any part thereof , other than the part
declared to be invalid.
Section 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be
an emergency treasure on the ground of urgent public need for
the preservation of peace, health, safety and property in the
City of Miami.
Section 5. The requirement of reading this ordinance
on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by avote of not
less than four -fifths of The Members of the Commission.
Section 6. The provisions of this ordinance shall
become effective on upon aublication 1975.

Ordinance to provide funds for

At the present time there are ten abandoned, and partly sunken, water
craft along the shores of City owned islands in the Dinner ley area
which are creating an eyesore and are a potential danger to other
boating interest in this area.
Notices have been attached to all of the vessels, notifying the owners
to remove the vessel, or the City will exercise its right to consider
them abandoned and have them removed and disposed of.
The Purchasing Division has received bids from several possible vendors
for the removal of these derelicts. The low bid was $4,490.00.
Funds are not available in the current operating budget of the Depart-
ment of Public Facilities to fund this project.
The Department of Public Facilities recommends the adoption of the
attached ordinance, amending the appropriation ordinance, to provide
$4,490.00 from the Marinas Fund Balance for the purpose of the
removal and disposal of the above mentioned water craft.
