INO FOR THE DUTIES, AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY OF
THE COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
PROVIDE ALL LEGAL SERVICES REQUIRED TO ACCOMPLISH THE
PURPOSES OF THE PROGRAM; PROVIDING AUTHORITY FOR THE
SETTLEMENT OF CLAIMS NOT EXCEEDING "ONE THOUSAND :DOLLARS
BY THE CITY ATTORNEY OR HIS DESIGNEE AND FOR THE SETTLE-
MENT OF CLAIMS IN EXCESS OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS UPON
THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY COMMISSION; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
PROVIDING-SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on October 3, 1975 the electorate of the City
of Miami approved a Charter Amendment setting up a Self -Insurance
and Insurance Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, the fleet insurance policy is expiring on
July 31, 1975 and it is, necessary to establish the self-insurance
program prior to that date;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OFMIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section'l. There is hereby created a City of Miami
Self -Insurance and Insurance Trust Fund, the Fund to which; shall
,be credited all money deposited in the City Treasury by appro
priation or from any other source, together with any un-
expended -balance of any appropriation heretofore made for
the expenditure of public funds for or accruing from;

The City Attorney shall render such report or reports
foix the settlement of claims to the committee and the City Commission„
as they shall require
Section 13.. All ordinances, code sections or parts
thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 14. Should any part or provision of this
ordinance be declared by. a court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance
as a whole, orany part thereof, other than the part declared to
be invalid.
Section 15. It is the intention of the City Commission
and it is hereby ordained, that the provisions of this ordinance
shall become and be made a part of the Code of the City of Miami,
Florida; that the sections of this,ordinance may be renumbered or
relettered to accomplish such intention; and that the word
"ordinance". may be changed to "section", "article",. or other
appropriate word.
Section 16.....This ordinance is hereby declared to be'
an emergency measure on the ground of urgent public need for
the preservation of peace, health, safety and property in. the
--City.of Miami.

on two separate days is hereby dispensed with by a vote of not
less than four -fifths of The members of the Commission,
