HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-75-0681/0417/75 tr RESOLuTI N A RESOLUTION URGING THE CITY O1" MIAMI, WITH THE ASSISTANCE DF VOLUNARY RE- SETTLEMEN ' AGENCIES AND LOCAL VOLUNTARY AND CIVIC ORGANIEATION8, TO (rOIN WITH THE EEEERAL AND STATE GOvERNMEN' 'S IN ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SPONSORSHIP, RESETTLEMENT AND ASSIMI- CATION OF INDOCHINESE REFUGEES INTO AMERICAN COMMUNITIES, NOTHING HEREIN IMPLYING ANY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PART OF THE CITY or MIAMI. WHEREAS, the United States of America has been, from its earliest days, a haven and a refuge for the poor, the oppressed, the dispossessed, and those seeking to lead a life of independence in a land of liberty and WHEREAS, the United States is now host to the tragic remnants of the suffering in Indo-China; and WHEREAS, the task of assisting those refugees is one which cannot be successfully accomplished unless it is broadly attempted by all of our people; and WHEREAS, the U. S. Senate on June 18, 1975, passed a similar resolution; and WHEREAS, the U. S.
