A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY
AND CONDOLENCES OP THE CITY COMMISSION TO
THE FAMILY OP THE LATE WOODY DERORf „ VETERAN
CAMEO POR WTVJ (CH. 4) , WHOSE RECENT PASSm
ING HAS DEPRIVED THIS COMMUNITY 'OP A MOST
RESPECTED DEADER OP THE AREA'S TV NEWS
CAMERAMEN.
WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, veteran eamerman for WTVJ
(Ch. 4) and the dean of the area's TV news oatterahten, died Sunday
July 13, 1975 in Tallahassee; and
WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, who was born in Richmond, Va.,
started his career in Miami about 25 years ago as a cameraman
for the old WITV (Channel 17) and joined the staff of Ch. 4 in
1961; and
WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, distinguished himself by serving
for 20 years in the Coast Guard shooting combat film;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby expresses
deepest sympathyand condolences to the family of the late
WOODY DEFORD whose passing has deprived this community of a
most respected leader of the area's TV News Cameramen.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17 day of JULY
1975.
