WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, veteran eamerman for WTVJ (Ch. 4) and the dean of the area's TV news oatterahten, died Sunday July 13, 1975 in Tallahassee; and WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, who was born in Richmond, Va., started his career in Miami about 25 years ago as a cameraman for the old WITV (Channel 17) and joined the staff of Ch. 4 in 1961; and WHEREAS, WOODY DEFORD, distinguished himself by serving for 20 years in the Coast Guard shooting combat film; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission hereby expresses deepest sympathyand condolences to the family of the late WOODY DEFORD whose passing has deprived this community of a most respected leader of the area's TV News Cameramen.
