Extension of ititerirn Zoning District
Dr. Martin Luther Xing uiet and
REFERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
The Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard interim
Zoning District will expire on June la, 1975.
It is hereby requested that the time limits for
the interim district be extended for an additional
six month period iri accordance with Article IV,
Section 39 (4) of the Comprehensive Zoning`
Ordinance.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard Interim Zoning District was established
by Ordinance 8212 on December 13, 1973, as extended to June 12, 1975. The
purpose of the district is to provide land use controls to insure that the planning
efforts now underway would not be nullified by new development not in accord
with the plans.
During the last six months considerable progress has been made towards the
completion of the Boulevard planning as follows:
On December 4, 1974, the Model. City Administering Board accepted
a comprehensive plan for the Model City Area.
2. On April 2, 1975, the Model City Administering Board accepted the
preliminary zoning recommendations consistent with the comprehensive
plan based upon a study conducted by the Dade County Planning Depart--
ment and its consultants Kendree-Sheppard Planning Consultants/Ronald
E. Frazier and Associates.
3. The City of Miami has approved the preliminary development plans
for the African Square Park project as prepared by M. Paul Friedberg
and Associates and Ronald E. Frazier Associates. The City has now
acquired several of the parcels for this project.
