DIVISION TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS POk
SAME
WHEREAS, invitations were sent to twenty (20) poten-
tial suppliers and six (6) bids were received; and
WHEREAS, the bid of ARA FOOD SERVICES was the
advantageous to the City; and
WHEREAS, funding for this program is supplied by the
bid. most
Florida Department of Education, Food and Nutrition Service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSEON OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The bid of ARA FOOD SERVICES for furnishing
lunches at twenty-two (22) playgrounds, six days a week, through-
out the City of Miami at a total expenditure of $116,626.20 is
hereby accepted.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Division to issue purchase orders for same.

Funding for this Program is supplied 'ay the Florida ''epart
;lent of Education, Food and ;Nutrition Service, Tallahassee,
Florida.
These lunches will be served at t:.lenty-two (22) nlaygrounds
throughout the City, six (6) days a lieek. This Program of-
fers r.1.S.D.i\ t'ne 1 specified lunches so that all econonn-
ically needychildren .gill be assured of at least one nutri-
tionally Nsal anced meal daily.
This is the sixth year that the City of '?iami has participated
in this Program.
The Purchasing il.gent recommends that the award he made and
a resolution oe prepared to ARA Food Services for furnishing
159,E00 lunches plus 3,0)0 supplements at a unit cost of
51.96per lunch and 14.46 per supplement, approximate total
expenditure of 11G,52G.20.
The Department of Parks and ^ecreation does not concur with
this recommendation and recommends that the award be made
to Dietcraft at a unit cost of G4c per lunch and 176 per
supplement, approximate total expenditure, .5122,272.00.

summer feeding program.
The =:?.ti menus include a sliced sausage or luncheon typ2 ,. oat nearly
ever, day. This is too rrrn otonous--even for disadvantaged children --
or perhaps I should say especially for disadvantaged children.
Since At \ is low, you should alloy them to bid on more appropriate ncals
(i.e., in line with the others).
If they will not, I suggest that you consider the next low bidder.

1) The State recommended menu was submitted and use.
2) Greater variety of food offered
3) bore portable and attractive menu
4) Staff rc:'icwed menus of the three (3) low bids
and chose thin vendor without knowing :yin; name
5) Lunches racke ed in bo ce .

This summer food prO 3r: ::l, which is scheduled to Login June 23,
