About March, 1976 the Police Department will move into ite new
facility, One of the essential functions which Must be conducted
in the building is building maintenance and janitorial service.
Because the building is both large and complex, this function
will be very important to its appearance and to the efficiency
of operations conducted within it.
The appropriate arrangements have been made through Civil Service
to hire a Building Maintenance Supervisor who will prepare and
plan for the maintenance of the building during these next nine
months which precede police department's occupancy of the building.
He will be working with the Police Department, the General Contractor
and the City's Resident Engineer to plan for all of the maintenance
activities that must occur in the new building, as well as to
become thoroughly familiar with the complex mechanical and
electrical systems in the building that make up its internal
environment
It is recommended that the City Commission allocate bond monies
to pay for the salary of the Building Maintenance Supervisor
for approximately nine months in the amount of $12,000 so that
development work can be accomplished to prepare for the maintenance
of the new police facility when it is occupied by the Police
Department. Funds will be requested in the 1975-76 operating
budget to pay for the Building Maintenance Supervisor's salary
after the Department occupies the new building.
