Extension Of SRI' s Third
Phase Agree►ent
On 15 July 1974, the City of Miami entered into an agreement
with Stanford Research Institute (SRI) for professional
services for the third and final phase of the Miami Modern
Police Department Program study "...lasting approximately
12 months until about 15 July 197b..." The work to be
performed by SRI was to assist the Police Department in
...the final design refinement, development of technical
specifications, and assistance in implementing the technology
and related systems that support the Miami Modern Police
Department Program." These services were to be provided
at the cost of $418,000.
Through careful management of the services to be performed
and their associated costs, certain economies were achieved
which will make it possible for SRIto provide services
for approximately three months beyond the 15 July 1975
termination date of the agreement and still remain within
the $418,000. It is, therefore, requested that the City
Commission authorize the City Manager to extend the existing
agreement with SRI for services to assist in the implementa-
tion of the Miami Modern Police Department Program beyond
the one year period until all monies allocated have been
expended. It should be noted that a similar condition
prevailed during the Phase II Agreement with SRI and that
agreement was extended by the City Commission resolution
until all the monies allocated were expended.
The Police Department can effectively use the services
that can be obtained by extending the agreement because
the Department is actively implementing complex, technogical
systems under a demanding time schedule. The services
SRI can provide will contribute to the proper implementation
of these systems so that they function as intended and
within the time constraints.
An appropriate resolution will be prepared for Commission consideration
at the June 12, 1975 Commission Meeting.
