The bid of MINORITY SYSTEMS, INC. for the ORANGE BOWL - WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS - 1975, namely Base Bid of Proposal, based on lump sum bid, at a total cost of $35,245.00 be, and it is hereby, accepted. section;2. Andrewe City Manager bAtE: sU sJEtt: titPEkENtEs: tWeLl sUkEs: Regarding the Ordinance amending the Appropriation Ordinance to pro- vide for the additional appropriation of $39,474.00 from the Orange Bowl Fund Balance to cover the cost of ORANGE BOWL - WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS, the following information is furnished: As you are aware, the Orange Bowl experienced serious water pressure problems during several football games with capacity crowds during the 1974-75 season. In an attempt to alleviate this problem, larger mains will be provided to replace the existing mains which extend around the north and south sides of the Bowl at a point 35-40 feet from the outside perimeter of the structure. This new system is also designed to serve as a basis for present and foreseeable future improvements at this facility. It may be necessary, sometime in the future, to ask the Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Authority to increase the size of their service to this facility in order to keep up with the increased demands. If this becomes necessary, the City's improvements will be enough to handle the additional water supply. The firm of Kunde, Driver, Spooner and Associates, Inc. were con- sulted prior to design, to determine if the above improvements would in any way conflict with recommendations they may have con- cerning future Orange Bowl improvements. There have been complaints of low water pressure during the games at the Orange Bowl Stadium. in an atteinpt to improve the water service available, new mains are being provided which will extend around the north and south sides of the structure. An emergency ordinance will be passed at the June 5, 1975 meeting appropriating funds for this pro3eet from the Orange Bowl rued Balance.
