WHEREAS, the Rescue Division of the Tire Department has requested the purchase of two (2) Life Pak 4 defibrillators and accessories for use in their emergency Work; and WHEREAS the Medtronic Sales, Inc. is the only mane facturer of this particular type of equipment and any other type could cause confusion under emergency situations; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends acceptance of the bid of Medtronic Sales for two (2) Life Pak 4 defibrillators and accessories at a total cost of $7,981.50; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section.1. The bid of Medtronic Sales, Inc. for two (2) Life Pak 4 Defibrillators and accessories be, and is hereby,accepted at a cost of $7,981.50 for use by the Rescue Division of the Fire Department. Section 2. The City Manager b , and he is hereby, authorized and directed to instruct the Purchasing Department to issue a Purchase Order for this equipment; allocating funds from the Federal Revenue Sharing Program for this purpose. It is therefore recommended that this equipment be obtained as a single source from The 'iedtronic Sales, Inc., the only manufacturer of this partic- ular type of equipment, The Fire Rescue Division has eleven (11) Life Pak defibrillators in service from this manufacturer and any other type of equipment could cause con- fusion under emergency situations. The Communications Denartment stocks spare parts and are capable of handling minor repairs. Funds for this purchase are to be obtained from the Federal Revenue Sharing Program. It is requested that the award be made and a resolution be prepared accepting the bid as re- ceived from the Nedtronic Sales, Inc. for furnish- ing two (2) Life Pak 4 defibrillators and access- ories at a total cost of $7,981 .5c7
