A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLMENT PURCHASE
OF THREE I.B,M. MEMORY TYPEWRITERS FOR USE IN THE
CITY CLERK'S OFFICE, WITH THE CONDITION THAT THE TOTAL
PURCHASE PRICE OVER A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS WILL
NOT EXCEED THE PRESENT RENTAL COST FOR THAT PERIOD
OF TIME
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is presently leasing from
I.B.M. Corporation three Memory Typewriters for use in the
City Clerk's Office at a rental of one hundred forty-five
dollars per month for each machine; and
WHEREAS, it is possible to purchase these machines on
an installment plan over a period of four years at a total
price less than the monthly rental cost for the same period
of time; and
WHEREAS, these typewriters have been in use in the City
Clerk's office a sufficient period of time to demonstrate
their worth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
That the proper officials of the City of Miami be, and
they are, hereby authorized to execute contracts for the in-
stallment purchase of three IBM Memory Typewriters for use in
the City Clerk's Office with the condition that the total pur-
chase price over a period of four years will not exceed the
present rental cost for that period of time.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this u day of April, 1975.

With respect to our earlier deliberatiens coneerning the insta.....ment
purchase of three IBM Memory Typewriters for use in this office in-
seead of the present lease arrangement, I am informed by the City
Attorney that this procedure should have the approval Of the City
Commission.
IBM representative has informed me that this installment purchase
plan Is being discontinued in the neat future and that time is othe
essence in the execution of the purchase contracts. Therefore, am
reo..,uesting that this ratter be brought up at the next meeting of the
Commission for approval.
