HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-75-0402• MC/ts 4/15/75 RESOLUTION NO.75' 4C2 A RESOLUTION GRANTING FREE USE OF MARINE STADIUM TO THE MIAMI HERALD FOR PRESENTING THE PAT BOONE FAMILY SHOW AND TRADITIONAL JAZZ FROM BRAZIL, RES- PECTIVELY, ON MAY 9 AND 31, 1975: SUBJECT TO AD- VANCE PAYMENT FOR EVENT PERSONNEL, INSURANCE AND OTHER DIRECT COSTS BORNE BY THE CITY. BE IT RESOLVED BY :THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Free use of Marine Stadium be, and is hereby, granted to The Miami Herald for presenting the Pat Boone Family Show and 'Traditional Jazz from Brazil, respectively, on May 9 and 31, 1975, subject to advance payment for event personnel, insurance and other direct costs borne by the City. Box 330708 :Miami, Fla. 33133 ;Dear Mr. Andrews ':While completing the proposal for The Lti:iami lie alU' S "Stars Under The Stars" concert series at Marine Stadium this summer, several opportunities have come before us, and we plan to proceed with at least two pre -summer shows: Friday, May 9, 8:30 p.m., Pat Boone Family Show Pat Toone, his wife and four daughters will receive top billing for this "songspirational . " Proceeds from the concert will go to Youth For Christ "Campus Life," a Christian rehabilitation program for collegians. Saturday, May 31, 8:30 p.m., Traditional Jazz from Brazil This concert features high caliber musicians from Sao Paulo, wi;o play traditional jazz. The visit to Miami is sponsored by their government and proceeds from the appearance go to the international Center in Miami. The date ties in nicely with Miami's International Folk Festival. As always, The Miami Herald is the prime sponsor and the newspaper is totally responsible for all phases of the shows. :ay we request City Commission action to waive Marine Stadium rental fees because of the charitable nature of the events and the cultural contribution being made to the community?
