;Dear Mr. Andrews
':While completing the proposal for The Lti:iami lie alU' S
"Stars Under The Stars" concert series at Marine
Stadium this summer, several opportunities have come
before us, and we plan to proceed with at least two
pre -summer shows:
Friday, May 9, 8:30 p.m., Pat Boone Family Show
Pat Toone, his wife and four daughters will receive top
billing for this "songspirational . " Proceeds from the
concert will go to Youth For Christ "Campus Life," a
Christian rehabilitation program for collegians.
Saturday, May 31, 8:30 p.m., Traditional Jazz from Brazil
This concert features high caliber musicians from Sao Paulo,
wi;o play traditional jazz. The visit to Miami is sponsored
by their government and proceeds from the appearance go to
the international Center in Miami. The date ties in nicely
with Miami's International Folk Festival.
As always, The Miami Herald is the prime sponsor and the
newspaper is totally responsible for all phases of the
shows.
:ay we request City Commission action to waive Marine
Stadium rental fees because of the charitable nature
of the events and the cultural contribution being made
to the community?
A sincere thank r u,
9
