RESOLUTION NO, 75`32/
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID QUOTATION OF
MELROSE NURSERY & SOILS COMPANY FOR MALAY COCONUT
PALM TREES, ADONIDIA PALM TREES AND 20' ROYAL
PALM TREES; REDDISH LANDSCAPING NURSERY FOR BLACK
OLIVE AND GUMBO 'LIMBO TREES; SINCLAIR SUNSET
NURSERY, INC. FOR 5' ROYAL PALM AND 10' ROYAL
PALM TREES; AND PESTONIT NURSERY & FLOWERS, INC.
FOR OAK, CABBAGE PALM AND BOTTLE BRUSH TREES; FOR
FURNISHING AND PLANTING TREES - 1975 AND AUTHORIZ-
ING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS AS
NEEDED TO MEET THE CITY'S REQUIREMENTS FOR THE
CALENDAR YEAR OF 1975 SUBJECT'TO THE AVAILABILITY
OF FUNDS.
WHEREAS, many times a year, trees in the center and side
parkways of Miami streets are destroyed in traffic accidents
or for other reasons require re;2lacements, and
WHEREAS, in the 1974-75 Budget the amount of $9,000 was
provided for use by the Department of Public Works in re-
placing such trees, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has approved a plan under
which payments for trees damaged in traffic accidents shall
be credited to the budget account to provide a revolving
fund account, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to due public notice and the mailing
of specifications to 27 firms, Bid Quotations were received
on February 28, 1975 from 4 firms, and
WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the Bid Quotation
of Melrose Nursery for the Malay Coconut Palm, the Adonidia
Palm and the 20' Royal Palm; the Bid Quotation of Reddish
Landscaping Nursery for the Black Olive and the Gumbo Limbo
Trees; the Bid Quotation of Sinclair Sunset Nursery for the
5' Royal Palm and 10' Royal Palm Trees; and the Bid Quotation

of Pestonit Nursery & Flowers, Ind. for the Oak, Cabbage
Palm and the Bottle Brush Trees is the lowest responsive
bid and recommends that purchase orders be issued as needed
to meet City requirements subject to availability of funds,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE.CITY OF.MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager be, and is hereby, author-
ized to accept the bid of February 28, 1975 from Melrose
Nursery & Soils Company, from Reddish Landscaping Nursery,
from Sinclair Sunset Nursery, Inc., and from Pestonit Nursery
& Flowers, Inc. for FURNISHING AND PLANTING TREES - 1975.
Section 2. The City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to issue Purchase Orders as needed to meet the
City's requirements for replacing trees in the center and
side parkways of City streets which are destroyed by traffic
accidents or otherwise, subject to the availability of funds.
Section 3. Funds received by the City in payment for
the aforementioned destroyed trees be, and hereby are,
credited to the account to create and maintain a revolving
fund account for tree replacement.

will be received by the City Manager and the City Clerk of The
City of Miami, Florida, not latr:r than 9:00 A.M. E.S.T. on the
28th clay of February, :1975, in the City Clerk's Office, First
Floor of the Miami City hall., 3500 Pan American Drive, Dinner
Key, Miami, Florida 33133, at which time and place they will
be publicly opened and read.
The successful Bidders will plant and maintain trees,
until growth is established, on thirty (30) days notice, on an
"as called for - when called for basis." Contract period to
run for one (1) year.
All bids shall be submitted in accordance with the
Instructions to Bidders and Specifications. Specifications
may be obtained from the Office of the Director, Department
of Public Works, 3332 Pan Am^r..i corn Drive, Miami, Florida.
The City Commission reserves the right to waive any
informality in any bid, and the City Manager rn%Ly reject any
or all bids, and re -advertise.
