HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-75-0317MC/ts 4/1/75 RESOLUTION NO, 75-317 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR RE -CONSTRUCTION OF FLAGAMI AND KINLOCH PARKS FOR HANDICAPPED PROGRAMS: WHEREAS, $46,500 is allocated for Flagami Park and $27,400 for Kinloch Park in the 1972 Parks for People Bond Program, and WHEREAS, this amount is insufficient for final develop- ment of both parks for handicapped programs, and WHEREAS, the Grant request in the amount of $73,750.00 will be matched with the Bond Program allocation, for a total of $147,500.00, which will allow complete development of both facilities, and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recom- mends that the City of Miami apply for these funds so that these two parks can be fully developed, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Commission hereby authorizes the application for Federal assistance for re -construction of recreation facilities for the handicapped. Section 2. If these funds are awarded to the City that construction commence on Flagami and Kinloch Parks at the earliest possible date. Howard, Director Department of Parks and Recreation DATE: March 17, 1975 grit svaJECT: Resolution Requests Application for Federal Assistance for Re'.Construction of Recreation Facilities for the REFERENCES: Handicapped ENCLOSURES: The 1972 Parks for People Bond Program has $46, 500 allocated for development of Ftagami Park, and $27,400 allocated for development of Kinloch Park. Re -development of both these facilities to serve as Centers for the I-Iandicapped Program, will require funds in the amount of $147, 500. 00. A Federal Grant in the amount of $73, 750. 00, matching the City's funds, is available from the Developmental Disabilities Construction Fund, and must be applied for before March 31, 1975. It is now in order for the City Commission to adopt a resolution authorizing the application for these funds, and in the event the funds are awarded, authorize construction at the earliest possible date. THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION RECOMMENDS THAT THE CITY APPLY FOR THIS FEDERAL ASSISTANCE. AHH/dw
