A RESOLUTION INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO PREPARE A POSITION PAPER ON THE FEASABILITY,
FINANCIAL AND OTHERWISE OF ADDING TO PRESENT
FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT, EQUIPMENT SUCH AS A
FIRE BOAT AND A 240 FOOT SNORKEL WITH THE
CAPABILITY Or SOLVING THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED
WITH FIRE FIGHTING IN HIGHRISE BUILDINGS.
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Commission to
protect the safety of its citizens from disasters such as fires;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Commission that
because of this intent an evaluation may be prepared and further
developed at budget time regarding fire fighting equipment to
promote the safety of the citizens of the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, fire fighting problems have arisen in high-
rise building developments which make it difficult for fire
fighters to combat fires emanating from upper stories of high-
rise buildings;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby instructed
to prepare a position paper on the feasability, financial and
otherwise of adding to present fire fighting equipment, equip-
ment such as a fire boat and a 240 foot snorkel with the capabil-
ity of solving the problems involved with fire fighting in high-
rise buildings.

AND (2) A REFERENCE TO A NEW 240 FOOT SNORKEL WHICH WOULD
BE CAPABLE OF SOLVING HIGHRISE BUILDING PROBLEMS FROM THE
ASPECT OF FIRE FIGHTING,
