FLORIDA 33101 March 19, 1975 Honorable Maurice Ferre Mayor of Miami City Hall, Dinner Key Miami, Florida UNt1'Eb t1`A1 tt btsmitt COURT SOUtHERN DI9tfIti Ol` PLORIDA Dear Mayor Ferre: At a meeting of the Naturalization Committee of this Court it was agreed that I would request of the City of Miami permission for the Court to use its auditorium for naturalization proceedings. Our need arises from the fact that we have no courtroom large enough to handle the hundreds of petitioners who are nacuralized at each ceremony and we have been granted permission to use the Auditorium by the City for the past six years. I have been advised by the Immigration and Naturalization Services that they have cleared the following dates with the Auditorium Office and I should appreciate your presenting to the City Commission at its next meeting our request for use of Bayfront Park Auditorium on the following dates: April 2, 1975 June 4, 1975 August 6, 1975 I hope that the City will again waive its usual rental fee, with the Court being responsible for the cost of personnel and the liability insurance premium. In the event the City should find a paying customer desiring to rent the auditorium on any of the dates granted to us. we think we would be able to find some other location if twenty days' cancellation notice is given to me. The petitioners are given approximately two weeks' notice of a scheduled naturalization ceremony. Honorable Maurice Pete March 19, 1975 Page 2 We are grateful to the City Commission for their response to our requests in the past. In behalf of Chief Judge Fulton and the Naturalization Committee, please express our appreciation to the Commission for their cooperation, Sincerely yours, United' States)DLstrict Judge CCA/ j d cc.
