RESOLUTION NO 75-237
A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE ACTION OF THE
DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION
IN RENTING BULLDOZER EQUIPMENT FOR USE AT
VIRGINIA KEY FROM TROUP BROTHERS, INC.;
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO INSTRUCT THE PROPER CITY OFFICIALS TO
PAY SAID COMPANY THE TOTAL PRICE OF
$8,248.90 FROM THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT
BUDGET.
WHEREAS, during the month of January, 1975, it was
necessary to rent bulldozer equipment on a day-to-day basis
because of an emergency in extinguishing fires at the Virginia
Key rubbish pit; and
WHEREAS, no formal bids were taken since dozers are
rented on a day-to-day basis, and City owned equipment was not
available at the time; and
WHEREAS, it was necessary to rent Troup Brothers equip-
ment for a total cost of $8,248.90 to meet this emergency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The action of the Director of the
Department of Sanitation in renting bulldozer equipment for use
at the Virginia Key rubbish pit from Troup Brothers, Inc. is
hereby ratified.
Section 2. The City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized and directed to instruct the proper City Officials
to pay said company the total price of $8,248.90 from the
Sanitation Department Budget.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 25 day of MARCH
1975.

During the month of January, 1975, it was
necessary to rent bulldozer equipment on a
day-to-day basis because of an emergency
to assist in extinguishing fires at the
Virginia Key rubbish pit. City owned equip-
ment was not available at the time.
Funds are available in the budget of the
Sanitation Department to cover the emergency
rental.
It is requested that a resolution be pre-
pared to cover the total price of $8,248.90
to be paid to Troup Brothers, Inc.

Each year the Department of Public Properties budgets
approximately $2,500 for rental equipment to be used by
the Department of Sanitation: This fund is primarily
used for the rental of bulldozers for the Virginia Key
Rubbish Pit. This fiscal year we have been plagued with
several fires early in the year which depleted that fund.
.During the month of December 1974 to January 1975, it was
necessary to rent equipment as City -owned equipment was
not available. As dozers are rented on a day-to-day basis,
there were no formal bids taken, only a telephone inquiry
by Mr. C. W. Hornick. its it was necessary to continue
the rental for an extended period of time, the funds
budgeted by the Department of Public Properties were
expended and the Department of Sanitation transferred
monies into Code 5-157.01.2890 to cover the extended rental
period.
