RESOLUTION NO. 75_125
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER
OF $12,591.00 FROM THE CONTINGENCY
FUND TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S BUDGET
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1974-75 FOR FUNDING
THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI
AND THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI SCHOOL OF
MEDICINE, DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY FOR
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.
WHEREAS, funds to cover a new contract, from
January 31, 1975 through January 31, 1976, were not requested
or included in the Fire Department's budget for fiscal year
1974-75;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The transfer of $12,591.00 from the
Contingency Fund to the Fire Department's budget for fiscal
year 1974-75 for funding the contract between the City of
Miami and the University of Miami School of Medicine, Depart-
ment of Surgery for emergency medical services.

As stated in the attached memorandums of January 17, 1975, the contract
between the City of Miami and the University of Miami Medical School to
provide medical supervision of our telemetry channel will expire on
January 31, 1975. Prior to this current contract, all expenses for this
purpose were paid through a Federal Grant, now lapsed, to the University
of Miami Medical School.
The current contract required payment by the City of Miami of $2,591 for
malpractice insurance and a $10,000 annual salary for the Senior Medical
Advisor who supervises our telemetry channel and encompasses a period of
one year, from January 31, 1974 through January 31, 1975. These funds
were provided from the unencumbered balance of the Contingency Fund by
City Commission Resolution #74-152, dated February 28, 1974, a copy of
which is attached. Also attached are copies of Purchase Orders #66947
and #66948 indicating payment of the salary and malpractice insurance, as
required.
If our Rescue Division is to continue to serve the citizens of the City
of Miami as it has in the past, we must engage the services of a licensed
physician to provide the authorization, instruction and supervision to
our Rescue personnel. Funds to cover a new contract, from January 31,
1975 through January 31, 1976, were not requested or included in the Fire
Department's budget for fiscal year 1974-75 and it is, therefore, respect-
fully requested that the funding for the new contract be provided from
the unencumbered balance of the Contingency Fund by City Commission
resolution.
