A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PROPER
CITY OFFICIALS TO TRANSFER $2,500600
FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND TO PROVIDE
PAYMENT FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF SEALS,
PLATES, AND LETTERS IDENTIFYING THE
TORCH OF FRIENDSHIP AS THE JOHN F.
KENNEDY MEMORIAL
WHEREAS, vandals have removed seals and plates
and letters identifying the Torch of Friendship as the
John F. Kennedy Memorial;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager be, and he is here-
by authorized and directed to instruct the proper City
Officials to transfer $2,500.00 from the Contingency
Fund to provide payment for the replacement of seals,
plates, and letters identifying the Torch of Friendship
as the John F. Kennedy Memorial.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12 day of FEBRUARY ,
1975.

Torch of Friendship
The reconstruction of John F. Kennedy Torch of Friendship
in Bayfront Park has been completed. Prior to the recent
demolition of the Torch shaft, on various occasions vandals
have removed the official seals, as well as other plaques and
bronze letters identifying the monument.
FILE:
Inasmuch as these bronze official seals have been gifts from the
country represented, it is felt that it is incumbent on the City to
have them replaced. Estimates for duplicating the missing seals
have been received and an appropriation of $2500 will he required
for their replacement.
It is recommended that the attached resolution be adopted
transferring $2500 from the Contingency Fund to provide payment
for this replacement.
