Andrews City vlana.ger ...FL ...i.1 411.414 Fitt Palm 'Tree Removal Firi?c'. .-.. 12-2-74 memorandum My December 2 memorandum suggested that the City let a contract to continue the palm tree removal, treatment and replacement program. The amount recommended to be made available from street sweeping funds in the Revenue Sharing Budget was $30, 000. This has been adjusted to $35, 000 of which $25, 000 will be for palm tree removal. and $10, 000 for the purchase of Malayan palm tree replacements. ro Honorable Mernhcrs of they City C:omntission P. W, Andrews City Manager fi E C 2 " : -4 Palm `i.rec Removal In the 1973-74 Revenue Sharing Budget, $50, 000 was made available for the treatment, removal and replacement of blighted coconut palms. This work was handled by contract and consisted primarily of the removal of dead palm trees. Inasmuch as these funds have been exhausted, we have been forced to terminate the dead tree removal. We are planning to include an item for the treatment, replacement and removal of coconut palms in our Community Development Program which is to be submitted for consideration before December 31. In the interim, hoc.ever, it is suggested that we let a contract for $30, 000 to continue palm tree removal. This money can be made available from the street sweeping funds in the Revenue Sharing Budget. $60, 000 has been provided for this service, and due to the importance of the palm tree removal, it is recommended that one-half of this amount be reappropriated for the tree removal program. In line with this, I will submit for your consideration an ordinance amending the Revenue Sharing Appropriation Ordinance, effecting this transfer of funds, at the December 17 Commission meeting. cc: Honorable Maurice A.
