A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO FOLLOW STATE AND CITY PROCEDURES
TO OBTAIN AN ENGINEERING CONSULTANT TO EVALUATE
THE PRACTICABILITY OF MODERNIZING AND IMPROVING
THE DINNER KEY AUDITORIUM, UTILIZING FUNDS FROM
THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND - UNALLOCATED
FUNDS.
WHEREAS, the Russell Melton Dinner Key Plan, presented in 1972,
anticipated that the Dinner Key Auditorium would be replaced with another
auditorium elsewhere; and
WHEREAS, conditions have changed since the Russell -Melton study
originated, necessitating a reevaluation of the future role of the Dinner
Ney Auditorium; and
\THEREAS, now a second engineering opinion is necessary to determine
whether certain portions may be retained from the present Dinner Key
Auditorium; and
Wti'HEREAS, it is anticipated that the cost of this additional study
would be between $5, 000 and $S, 000. 00; and
WHEREAS, Engineering Firms are to be contacted following the
guidelines as established by the Consultants Competitive Negotiations
Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, I3E IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1. That the City Manager be, and is hereby authorized,
to follow City and State procedures to obtain an engineering consultant
to evaluate the practicability of modernizing and improving the Dinner
Key Auditorium.

REMARKS;
Section 2. The cost of the aforesaid study is to be financed
from funds available in the Capital Improvement Fund - Unallocated
Funds.
