RESOLUTION NO. 75-33
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF
FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
FOR A LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION GRANT TO
AID IN THE ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT OF
THE LATIN COMMUNITY RIVERFRONT PARK.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami desires to acquire and
develop fee simple title to certain land which is to be known
as the Latin Community Riverfront Park, which land is to be
held and used for permanent open space land for park and re-
creation use; and
WHEREAS, the need for additional open space lands has
become one of the City of Miami's most critical problems; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has approximately 120,000
residents of Latin extraction concentrated permanently in ti,e
southwestern portion of the City; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Latin Community Riverfront Park
shall provide a vital and needed park facility for the Latin
community of Miami, reflecting the desires and life styles of
the Latin peoples;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized to make application to the State of Florida, Depart-
ment of Natural Resources, for a land and water conservation
grant to aid in the acquisition and development of the Latin
Community Riverfront Park.

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to execute and file such application with the
Florida Department of Natural Resources to provide additional
information and to furnish such documents as may be required
by said department and act as the authorized correspondent
of the City of Miami.
Section 3. The proposed acquisition is in accordance
with the plans for allocation of land for open space uses and
should a grant be made the City of Miami will acquire, develop
and retain such land for the use as designated in its applica-
tion ano approved by the Florida Department of Natural Resources.

Latin Community Riverf tont Park
Land and Water Conservation
Grant Application
At the November 21, 1974 City Commission Meeting
the City Attorney and I briefed the Commission as to
the status of litigation, negotiations, and estimates
of cost of the Latin Community Riverfront Park
Project. At that time I indicated the possibility of
the City obtaining an approximate $500, 000 Land
and Water Conservation Act of 1965 grant through
the State of Florida Department of Natural Resources.
The attached resolution authorizes the City Manager
to submit the proposed grant application.
