nESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE FOLTOWINO BIDS
rOR FURNISHING TREES FOR BAYFRONT PARK TO
THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION: BID
OP MELROSE NURSEY FOR 148 ASSORTED TREES AT
A TOTAL COST OF $16,865 AND BID OF BERT
NEWCOMB TREE SERVICE FOR 174 ASSORTED TREES
AT A TOTAL COST OF $4,602.50; ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR FROM BAYFRONT PARK PROJECT
(NORTH PORTION - STAGE I) - TITLE X; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT
THE PURCHASING DEPARTMENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE
ORDERS FOR THE TREES.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids
to received November 9, 1976 for the furnishing of trees
tO the Department of Parks and Recreation for BAYFRONT PARK; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 52 potential
suppliers and 2 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available
in the BAYFRONT PARK PROJECT (NORTH PORTION - STAGE I) -
TITLE X; and
WHEREAS, these trees will be used by the Department
of Parks and Recreation for the purpose of Beautification/Land-

WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Departure t of Parks
and Recreation recommend that the bids received from Melrose
Nursery for 148 assorted trees at a total cost of $16,865
and Bert Newcomb Tree Service for 174 assorted trees at a
total cost of $4,602.50 be accepted as they are the most
advantageous bids to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The November 9, 1976 bid of Melrose Nur-
sery for furnishing 148 assorted trees for BAYFRONT PARK
at a total cost of $16,865 and bid of Bert Newcomb Tree
Service for furnishing 174 assorted trees for BAYFRONT PARK
scaping; and

total dolt of $4,602.SO are hereby accepted with Paierai
funds therefor hereby allocated from BA1FRONT PAttX PROJECT

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized
to instruct the Purchasing Department to issue purchase orders
for these trees.

Trees at Bayfront lark
'he, City Commission, through kesoltttion 76-147,
uthorired the redevelopment of Bayfront Park.
The Landscape Architect for this project is Edward D.
Stone, .Tr., and Associates rf Fort Lauderdale.
The planting program in Bayfront Park is following
the program conducted in Bicentennial Park; the effect
being that the street and tree line would be continuous
from the Bayfront 13andshell i.o McAithur Causeway.
As specified by the Consultant, the Parks and Recreation
Department requested some flowering trees, Royal
Palms and other varieties for l3ayfront Park. Bids
were received for this order and the Parks and Recreation
Department recommends that the City accept the low
bid as both vendors are considered to he qualified and
reliable.
