MOTION CONFIRMING THE ELECTION OP
dAMtt COX, AS SECOND REPRESENTATIVE OF
Tilt CITY OF MIAMI POLICE OFFICERS, AND
JOHN J. BERTZEL, AS SECOND REPRESENTATIVE
OP THE CITY OF MIAMI FIREFIGHTERS TO THE
RETIREMENT BOARD OF THE MIAMI CITY EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM, FOR A TERM TO EXPIRE ON
DECEMBER 31, 1978, AND APPROVING THE
IMMEDIATE ASSUMPTION OF DUTIES BY SAID
JAMES COX, DUE TO THE PREMATURE RESIGNATION
OF CHARLES SALERNO, INCUMBENT SECOND REPRE-
SENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE
OFFICERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami, the Fraternal Order
lice, and the International Association of Firefighters,
AFL-CIO Local No. 587, entered into labor agreements, which
provide for election of members to the Retirement Board of
the Miami City Employees' Retirement System; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with said agreements, the
City of Miami Police Officers and the City of Miami Firefighters
have elected their respective members to said board; and
WHEREAS, the President of the Faternal Order of
Police and the President of the International Association of
Firefighters, AFL-CIO, Local No. 587, have communicated results
of said election to the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to confirm the
results of

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED COMMTSSTON-OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The election of JAMES COX, as the second
representative of the City of Miami Police Officers, and JOHN J.
BERTZEL, as second representative of the City of Miami Firefighters,
to the Retirement Board of the Miami City Employees' Retirement
System is heraby zonfirned, for a term to expire on December 31,
1978. The immediate -assumption of duties by JAMES COX, as
50cond representative of the City of Miami Police Officers, is

Dear Mr. Grassie:
This is to notify you that the new police representative to the
Pension Board, for the City of Miami, is James Cox. Mr. Cox will
assume the position immediately due to the resignation of Charles Salerno.
Mr. Cox won the election for this position that was held on Friday,
November 12, 1976 at the Police Department, Imo U.I.12nd Avenue.
Please arrange to have this position certified by the Commission
and notify the City Clerk so that the proper financial disclosure forms
may be completed.
