GRASSM CITY MANAGER ATTENTION: ROBtRT C. HOMAN, AGENDA COORDINATOR 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 RE: EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES & POLICItS Sanitation Department Dear Sir: We previously requested to be placed on the City Commission Agenda for the next Commission meeting scheduled for December 16, 1976. We are in receipt of your letter dated December 3rd, in which you ask us to postpone our apparance until January 13, 1977. Due to the urgent nature of the matter which gravely concerns our clients, we cannot accede to your request, and again in- sist that we be provided an opportunity to appear before the Commission at the December 16th meeting. The essential nature of our concern is the present hiring policy of the City, specifically as it relates to the employ- ment of Blacks within the Department of Sanitation. We believe the Consaision should, at the least, entertain our argument that the City has not, as of this time, adopted and implemented a policy which fairly and equitably selects those • individuals for appointment to managesent and administrative and supervisory positions within the department. tytt !I‘ fling" A ttt ' AV.6 LiSiCoLt4 ROAt) ttLiSti 1fCH,itottrbA 33139 ttob) B34.6093 b31.0158 LY YOURS, 't • 9 onel Barnet Attorney for Sanitation Employees Association COPIES FOR: MAYOR FERRE FATHER GIBSON COMMISSIONER REBOSO COMMISSIONER PLUMMER COMMISSIONER GORDON "SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTS FOLLOW" • AtioANLY At LAY, tots, Maurice Perri, ggyor acid All City of Miami City Hall Miami, Florida Dear Sir: Ate LINct5L-N t iAb t$}AStt ttAct, rtORIbA bal.bto t5b3) C34.6ol3 131t.61B8 , LS a lonerl::(77-7:1* • , F f3 F " J COMM. .
