Amendment to Ordinance 8183
Annual Memberships Greens rees
cost of operating the City Oolf Courses has increased to a
tiitit where Annual .Membership foes are not commensurate with
expenses. Since 1974, the prices of fertilizers and chemicals
- have doubled. Other additional operating costs made it difficult
to balance our revenues with Golf Course expenses,
Daily greens fees were increased in an effort to produce needed
revenue. The Annual Membership fees, however, have not
substantially increased. At the present time most members play
four rounds a week at a cost of .$300.00 per year. 'Therefore, a
player is only paying $1. 50 greens fees for each round of golf.
Of the players who have an annual. membership, 50(ri:, either walk
or use hand carts and do riot pay a fee for an electric golf cart.
A combined membership for a man and wife, presently costing
$350.00, actually affords the golf course less revenue and reduces
the greens fees to an average below $3.50 per round of golf. Annual
membership greens fees should be equalized so that members who
play golf frequently pay their fair .hare,
The City Commission requested that an investigation be made into
the possibility of increasing non-resident fees for players Living
outside the City limits. After evaluating the play by residents and
non-residents and taking into consideration fees imposed at other
public courses, it is now recommended that a non...resident fee of
20% be added to the proposed rate for City residents.
