WHEREAS, the City of Miami is co-sponsor with the
Leukemia Society of America, Inc. in the presentation of a
benefit variety show on February 4, 1977; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has reviewed the request
f the Leukemia Society of America, Inc. to provide the free
use of the Gusman Cultural Center to stage the show; and
WHEREAS, the Leukemia Society of America, Inc.,
agrees to assume all other costs related to this event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OP
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. $650 is hereby allocated from the Special
Community Programs Budgeted Funds to assist the Leukemia Society
of America, Inc. in the presentation of a benefit variety show
at Gusman Cultural Center on Friday, February 4, 1977, co -sponsored
by the City of Miami, subject to the Leukemia Society of America,
Inc., obtaining liability insurance in such amounts and from
approved carriers as the City Manager deems necessary for the
protection of the City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11 day of NOVEMBER .1976.

On Thursday, October 21, 1916, Ms, Libby Holden, on behalf of the Leukemia Society
of America, Inc., appeared to request use of Gusman Cultural Center on a free basis.
Ms. Holden advised that this request. was Ik Kermit the Leukemia Society of America,
Inc., South Florida Chapter, to conduct a variety - fund raising show. This per-
formance will be listed as a benefit with all proceeds provided to the Leukemia
Society of America, Inc., and professional entertainers will be donating their time.
No professional fund raisers are associated with this project. and the Leuiemia
Society of America, Inc. does not receive funding from the United Way or any other
source other than totally voluntary contributions.
The City of Miami will be listed as a co-sponsor, and the Leukemia Society of America,
Inc. will submita complete financial statement at the conclusion of the event.
All money collected will stay in the South Florida area. and this will be a one
time only venture.
Following the review with Ms. Holden, the Board concluded with its desire to recom-
mend to the City Manager that the Leukemia Society of America, Inc.'s request for
the free use of Gusman Cultural Center on February 4, 1977, be permitted.
