HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-1002AtgOttTION NO. 76-1002 SOLUTION APPROVING A NINETY DAY TtNSION OF EMPLOYMENT PAST THE AGE OF 72 FOR RAFAEL GARCIA, INTERPRETER CLERK, MIAtI POLICE DEPARTMENT, EFFECTIVE ON OCTOBER 31, 1976 THROUGH JANUARY 30, 1977, WITH PROVISION THAT IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLBACK OR LAYOFF MR. GARCIA, RATHER THAN A JUNIOR EMPLOYEE, WOULD EE AFFECTED. WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board, on October 19` unanimously recommended the approval of employment past the age of 72 for RAFAEL GARCIA, Interpreter Clerk, Miami Police bepartment: and WHEREAS, the City Physician has determined that the physical condition of said RAFAEL GARCIA is satisfactory for continued employment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OE THE CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA: Section 1. A ninety day extension of employment past the age of 72 is hereby granted for RAFAEL GARCIA, Inter- preter Clerk, Miami Police Department, effective on October 31, 1976 through January 30, 1977, with the provision that, in the event of a rollback or layoff, WI. Paulk, Executive Secreta Civil Service Board CASE October 19, 1976 PILE sua'EZ Civil Service Board Action on Request for Extension of Employment for Rafael Garcia, Interpreter Clerk, Police Depa Et E'.:Es anent, from October 31, 1976 through January 30, 1977 .ENCLOSUF_s At its meeting of October 19, 1976, the Civil Service Board considered the request of Rafael Garcia, Interpreter Clerk, Police Department, for an extension of employ - tent for a period of ninety (90) days, to be effective October 31, 1976 through January 30, 1977. The Board noted that Gatland 'Watkins, Chief of Police, has recommended approval of this request, and that Dr. L. A. Toto, City Physician, has found Mr. Garcia physically qualified to continue employment for the additional ninety (90) days. The Board voted unanimously to approve the request, with the provision that in the event of a rollback or. layoff, Mr. Garcia, rather than a junior employee, would be affected, noting this is in accordance with past policy. His present extension expires October 30, 1976, which was passed and adopted on October 23, 1975, by City Commission Resolution 75-985. A previous extension war; granted on February 19, 1974 by City Com uis`';1.on i?f) which C' p1?.L d October 29, 1974. It is the intent of Mr. Garcia to retire at the end of this (90) ninety day extension, should it be granted. dr. Garcia's date of birth is October 29, 1903 and he has been employed since September 14, 1955. In addition, Mr. Garcia was examined by Dr. L. A. Toto, City Medical Department, on October 7, 1976, and found to be physically qualified for the (90) ninety day extension. In view of the above circumstances and the above average per- formance as an Interpreter Clerk, it is therefore requested that Mr. Rafael Garcia be granted the (90) ninety day extension per Civil Service Rule II, Section 4.
