AMERTISING AND PUBLICITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN
METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF MIAMI
FOR A JOINT CITY AND COUNTY PUBLICITY AND
ADVERTISING PROGRAM FOR THE 1976-77 FISCAL YEAR;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID
AGREEMENT EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 1976, AND DIRECT•
ING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION AND THE RENEWAL AGREEMENT TO THE
CLERK OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Or
METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami and Metropolitan Dade
Minty have heretofore entered into joint publicity and adVettiS
ing programs since 1960; and
WHEREAS, such agreements have been renewed annually
pursuant to appropriate resolutions, and it is the recommendation
Of the City Manager that it be renewed for the 1976-77 fiscal year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Commission hereby approves the
proposed Renewal Agreement for Joint City and County Publicity
and Advertising Program between Dade County and the City of Miami.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute the Renewal Agreement provided for in Sec-
tion 1 hereof on behalf of the City of Miami, effective as of
October 1, 1976.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this Resolution and the executed Renewal Agreement to
the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of Metropolitan
Dade County, Florida.

WHE1EAS, this Board desires to accomplish the purposes
OUtlined in the memorandum from the County Manager, a copy of which
is attached to this resolution, for the reasons delineated therein,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board approves the
renewal of contract between Dade County and the City of Miami, for
joint publicity and advertising programs for the 1976-77 fiscal
year.

JOINT PUBLICITY AND
ADVERTISING CONTRACT
Dade County and the City of Miami for the past sixteen years have participated
in a joint venture supporting a single publicity and tourism agency. This
year the County will contribute a total of $500,000 to the program. Of the
total amount contributed, the General Fund will contribute $205,000 and the
Aviation Department will provide $195,000 and the Seaport Department will pro-
vide $100,000,
A portion of the funds will be used to attract foreign visitors by collabor-
ating with the Miami Beach TDA, the Florida Department of Commerce and the
United States Travel Service. This unified effort has proven very successful
in recent years and will be expanded this coming fiscal year.
This agency will provide public information assistance for all County agencies
including Parks and Recreation, Library, Seaport and Aviation Departments.
Reflected in the work program are the activiites of protocol as put forth by
the Office of the Mayor and County Commission through official keys, procla-
mations, plaques, certificates of appreciation and commendations, photo
assignments and other promotional items.
The Miami -Dade Publicity Department annually distributes more than 200,000 news
releases and some 30,000 photographs to attract visitors to the Dade County
area. In addition, more than 400,000 inquires about the County were answered
by mail.
The attached resolution authorizes renewal of the contract between Dade County
and the City of Miami for joint support of the Miami -Dade Publicity Department.
Your approval is recommended.
