STATES GOVERNMENT FOR ITS ASSIGNMENT TO
THE OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, OF ALAN A. ROGERS, AN
EMPLOYEE OF THE UNITED STATES INFORMATION

WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been recognized as ari
appropriate location for career diplomatic officers to gain
insight, understanding and appreciation of the American way
of life; and
WHEREAS, the above recognition is reflected in the
ment to Miami of Alan A. Rogers, a career diplomat employed by
the United States Information Agency (USIA), for the period of
one year, to engage in projects benefitting the City of Miami,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, the professional consultant services of Mr. Rogers
by way of assisting in the improvement of the social, cultural
and economic relationships with Central and South American
countries, will only result in an expenditure by the City of
Miami of $4,654.00 for the year of his assignment;

ITEM NO.
Section 1. The expenditure of $4,654.00 as payment to the
United States Government for its assignment to the Office of the
City Manager of the City of Miami, Florida, of Alan A. Rogers,
an employee of the United States Information Agency (USIA), for
the one year period effective September 16 1976, is hereby
authorized with funds therefor from the Contingency Fund.

t'the meeting of July 22, 1§1-6, and by Motion #76-160,
the City commission eic:ccpted the offer oi. the United
gtates ]ufoimat:ion Agency's (USIA) program of "Assign-
ment America11to employ Mr. Alan A. Rogers, Under this
program, Mr. Rogers would be with the City about one
. year and the City would pay 20% of his salary. The USIA
Will pay the balance.
Mr. Rogers will be involved in coordinating the visits
of foreign dignitaries, improve liaison with our consular
corps and the effects of City -sponsored goodwill journeys.
Also, Mr. Rogers will aid in the ongoing process to produce
a Latin American Trade Exhibitioll-Fair in concert with the
Inter -American Export Promotion Center (CIPE) an arm of
the Organization of American States (OAS) as well as a
future trade center.
The attached resolution would authorize the expenditure
of the City's share and designates the source of these
funds. It is recommended that the Commission act favorably
on this resolution.
