This is to inform you that the dates set by the Commission
to conduct public hearings foi- the 1976-77 Budget must be
changed in order to comply wit}I Slate law cover.i.ng the
proposed tax increase.
The law states that a pub).ic hearing shall he advertised
and }field after S:OU }?M approximately 7 days after finaliz-
ing the Budget, and that after the first public hearing
has bean held the trixi.ny aut.hc~r.it.>> sh,rl]. readver.tise and
meet again within two weeks to adopt the new millage rates
in excess of the certified miltaga. Therefc>r.e, the
originally scheduled .public hearings of September 29 and
30 would not meet the legal requirements.
