An application was subinit.ted on August t , J976, requesting $25,000 in Federal funds to expand the Canadian Advertising Campaign. Canadians visiting the City of Miami, while high in number, showed a decline during 1974-75. However, recent figures in- dicate this downward trend has now been reversed. The City needs to expand its Canadian promotional efforts if we are to achieve the Pre-1974 level of Canadian visitors. The second application was submitted on September 1, 1976, requesting $5,955 in Federal funds to finance the preparation of a 16mm film designed to promote tourism in Greater Miami by emphasizing the area's attraction for foreign visitors as a unique place to shop for goods and products. The dollar -for -dollar match for both of these Grant Applications will he met by the FY77 budget for the Publicity Department. The Greater Miami area currently receives an estimated 12 million tourists annually, close to one-half million of which are foreign visitors.
