HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0823RRC/tb 9/22/76 RESOLUTION NO. 76-823 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MARKS BROTHERS COMPANY IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $225,501.75 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OMNI PAVING PROJECT B-4384 (BID "A" HIGHWAYS): ALLOCATING THE AMOUNT OF $225,501.75 FROM THE ACCOUNT ENTITLED "HIGHWAY BOND FUNDS" TO COVER THE PROPOSED CONTRACT COST: ALLOCATING FROM SAID ACCOUNT THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $20,805.19 TO COVER THE COST OF PROJECT EXPENSE; ALLOCATING FROM SAID ACCOUNT THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $3,510.06 TO COVER THE COST OF SUCH ITEMS AS ADVERTISING, TESTING LABORATORIES AND POSTAGE; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SAID FIRM. WHEREAS, sealed bids were received on September 20, 1976 for the construction of OMNI PAVING PROJECT B-4384; and WHEREAS, the City Manager reports that the $225,501.75 bid of Marks Brother Company is the lowest responsible bid for BID "A" HIGHWAYS of Proposal and recommends that a contract be awarded to said firm; and "DOCUMENT I,NDEX � E rN Q r WHEREAS, the City has entered i gr_en�e-�--�.th Omni International of Miami Ltd. and Popolopen Properties, Inc. for the construction of subdivision improvements and authorizing the City to expend funds for these improvements in the plat entitled "OMNI INTERNATIONAL", and to collect said sum plus interest from Omni International of Miami Ltd. over a 10-year period, all in accordance with the agreement and letter amend- ments attached hereto and made a part hereof; and WHEREAS, Section 54-20 of the Code of the City of Miami requires the construction of certain street improvements in the City of Miami as a part of the subdivision improvements of the record plat entitled OMNI INTERNATIONAL; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has agreed to construct said highway subdivision improvements as a City of Miami Highway Project using Highway Bond Funds; and WHEREAS, Omni International of Miami Ltd. is the Lessee of Tract "A" of the OMNI INTERNATIONAL SUBDIVISION and has agreed to pay the City of Miami the full cost of the project including incidental expenses; and "SUPPORTIVE DOCUME1\ T° FOLLOW" CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF SEP2 3 1976 RESOLUIKNI NO.�..k..., .... WHEREAS, Popolopen Properties, Inc. is the owner Of Tract "A" of the subdivision known as OMNI INTERNATIONAL as recorded in Plat Book 102 at Page 3 of the Public Records of Dade County, Florida; and WHEREAS, Popolopen Properties, Inc. has agreed to subordinate its fee simple ownership in said subdivision to the City of Miami's lien as provided in the aforesaid agree- ment; and WHEREAS, funds are available for allocation from the account entitled "Highway Bond Funds" for the proposed amount of the contract, for Project Expense, and for such items as Advertising, Testing Laboratories and Postage; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The September 20, 1976 bid of Marks Brothers Company in the proposed amount of $225,501.75 for the project entitled OMNI PAVING PROJECT B-4384,namely,BID "A(f HIGHWAYS of Proposal, based on unit prices, is hereby accepted at the price stated therein. Section 2. The amount of $225,501.75 it hereby allocated from the account entitled "Highway Bond Funds" to cover the proposed cost of the contract. Section 3. The additional amount of $20,805.19 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid account to cover the cost of Project Expense which includes engineering, surveys and inspec- tion work performed by City Forces. Section 4. The amount of $3,510.06 is hereby allocated from the aforesaid account to cover the cost of such items as Advertising, Testing Laboratories and Postage. Section 5. Briefly, the work will include the construction of approximately .17 miles of 4 lane divided roadway within 100 foot right of way, and approximately .12 miles of 2 lane roadway within a 70 foot right of way including inter- secting street rebuilding within varying right of way widths. Construction will include filling, asphaltic pavements, concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, a positive drainage system, landscaping and an irrigation system. Bids may be offered on any one or any combina- tion of the following categories -- Highway, Storm Sewer, or Landscaping. If any questions, call 579-6865 - George V. Campbell, Jr., Highway Engineer. A1.1 bid; shall be :submitted in accordance with the Instruction.; to Bidders and .'specifications. Plans and Specifications may be obtained from the Office of the Director, Del artment oi' Public Works, 3332 Pan American Drive, Miami, Florida. Plans and specifications are to be returned in good condition and unmarked within 30 days after bids have been received. Proposal includes the time of performance and Specifi- cations contain provisions for liquidated damages for failure to complete the work on time.
