Chevron Station - Bicentennial Park

Prior to receiving bids for the demolition of the Chevron
Station, T had discussed with Mr. Grassie the idea of
preserving the station for a courtesy center, information
center, whatever.
Mr. Grassie has seen the sketches prepared b,' this depart-
ment and, although he has not read the report on a courtesy
center prepared by :•ir. Reese in 1965, he has been made
aware of i t .
Bids have now been received and the cost of demolition
would be +,500. The cost of m:i hir:Ia1 improvements is
estimated at $C,000 and, mar:- elaborate Improvem,::nts
at an additional :27,000. nleithcr of these costs include
any staf f1 or c - :°r tiorlal cost.
A resolution has prepared and is in the hands of
Mr. Eads for de-Jl!tion. A decision should be mace on
September 23 one .. ay or the other.
