RESOLUTION NO. 76-801
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MIAMI
ELEVATOR COMPANY FOR THE MODERNIZATION OF
THE "EASTERN" ELEVATOR AT THE ORANGE BOWL,
AT A TOTAL COST OF $23,353; ALLOCATING FUNDS
FROM THE 1975-76 OPERATING BUDGET, RESERVE
FOR IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids
were received August 24, 1976 for the modernization of the
"EASTERN" Elevator at the Orange Bowl for the Department of
Public Facilities; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 9 potential
suppliers and 2 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this project are available in
the 1975-76 operating budget, Reserve for Improvements; and
WHEREAS, the "EASTERN" Elevator was installed
approximately 23 years ago and is used primarily by media
personnel assigned to the 3rd floor press box and is also
used by stadium personnel in their assigned duties, concession
employees for emergency deliveries to upper stands and by
handicapped persons, with special permission, to reach itbe r UM.-N,,
seats in the upper deck; and

WHEREAS, the Miami Building Department, in a memo
dated March 18, 1976, has declared: "The small elevator at the
Orange Bowl is in very bad condition and should be replaced",
and the aforesaid elevator is presently out of service, and
is a vital supplement to the two elevators servicing the upper
press box; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of
Public Facilities recommend that the bid of Miami Elevator
Company for the modernization of the "EASTERN" Elevator at

the Orange Bowl be accepted as it is the lowest responsible bid

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The August 24, 1976 bid of Miami
Elevator Company for modernization of the "EASTERN" Elevator
at the Orange Bowl is hereby accepted at a total cost of
$23,353, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the
1975-76 operating budget, Reserve for Improvements.

Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received August 24,
1976 for the moderni7ation of t1- • Orange Bowl elevator for the

Invitations were mailed to nine (9) potential suppliers and two
(2) bids were received as follows:
Miami Elevator Company
Montgomery Elevator Company
$23,353.00
$26,950.00
Funds for this project are available in the 1975-1976 operating
budget, Reserve for Improvements.
The elevator was installed approximately twenty years ago and is
used primarily by media personnel assigned to the third floor
press bay . 7t is also used by stadium personnel in their as-
signed duties, concession employees for emergency deliveries
to upper stands and/or handicapped persons with special per-
mission, to reach their seats in t lle upper deck.
The Miami Building Department., in a mncmo dated March 18, 1976,
has declared "The small elevator at. the Orange Bowl is in very
bad condition and should be replaced". The elevator is presently
out of service, and is a vital supplement to the two elevators
servicing the upper press box.

The following bids for the "t'lodernization of Orange Bowl
Elevator", have been received and evaluated:
(1) Montgomery Elevator Company $26,950,00
(2) Miami Elevator Company. . . . . . . $23,353.00
The Department of Public Facilities recommends that the bid be
awarded to the lowest bidder, T.7iami 7,1evator Company, for the
sum of $23,353.00.
The elevator was installed approximately twenty years ago and is
used primarily by media personnel assigned to the third floor
press box. It is also used by stadium personnel in their
assigned duties, concession employees for emergency deliveries
to upper stands and/or handicapped persons with special permission,
to reach their seats in the !.,_per de(!k.
The modifications and 'modernization of this elevator should be
considered an emergen;; inasmuch that it is a vital supplement
to the two elevators servicing the upper press box.
