FOR FURNISHING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION WITH 100 ASBESTOS CEMENT PLANTERS AT A TOTAL COST OF $14,484; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL GRANT, BICENTENNIAL BAYFRONT PARK (TITLE X). WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, only one sealed received June 22, 1976 for furnishing 100 asbestos cement planters for the Department of Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 14 potential suppliers and only one bid was received from Steel Fabricators, Inc; and WHEREAS, these planters will contain foilage and will be used for the beautification of Bayfront Park; and WHEREAS, funds are available from the Federal Grant, Bicentennial Bayfront Park (Title X); and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Parks and Recreation recommend that the award be made to Steel Fabrica- tors, Inc. for supplying the Department of Parks and Recreation with 100 asbestos cement planters at a total cost of $14,484, as it is the most advantageous bid received by the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The June 22, 1976 bid of Steel Fabrica- tors, Inc. for furnishing the Department of Parks and Recreation with 100 asbestos cement planters at a total cost of $14,484 is hereby accepted; with funds therefor the Federal Grant, Bicentennial Bayfront 1976. hereby allocated from Park (Title X). It is recommended that the bid for the Atlas Asbestos Planters, specified by the architect, be awarded to Steel Fabricators, Inc. They were the only bidder. These planters will be used for the beautifi- cation of Bayfront Park and will be paid for by a Federal Grant and City of Miami Bond monies allocated for the Bayfront Park Phase I Project.
