HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0720R1~t/tb 7/15/76 RESOLUTION NO. 76-720 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MAKO ENGINEERING FOR FURNISHING THE FIRE DEPART- MENT WITH ONE MOBILE RESPIRATORY AIR TRUCK 'SUPPORTIVE AT A TTAL CST OF FROM FEDERALOREVENUE7SHARING2,702; AFUNDSTIVG FUNDS TiV1 ENTS FOLLOW" was received July 6, 1976 for furnishing one Mobile Respiratory WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, one sealed bid Air Truck to the Fire Department; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 10 potential suppliers and only one bid was received from Mako Engineering; and WHEREAS, funds for this truck are available from Federal Revenue Sharing Funds; and WHEREAS, the present air truck is not capable of fill- ing the present high pressure tanks quickly enough to provide res- pirator air protection capacity at fires; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Fire Department recom- mend that the award be made to Mako Engineering for furnishing the Fire Department with one mobile respiratory air truck at a total cost of $72,702, as it was the most advantageous bid received by the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF "DOCUMENT INDEX THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: ITEM NO. " Section 1. The July 6, 1976 bid of Mako Engineering for furnishing the Fire Department with one mobile respiratory air truck at a total cost of $72,702 is hereby accepted; with funds therefor hereby allocated from Federal Revenue Sharing Funds. SUBJECT: July 12, 1976 FILE: Recommendation for Award of Bid Mobile Respiratory Air Truck REFERENCEfl: ENCLOSURES; Bid No. 75-76-108 One bid was received for furnishing the I)epart-ment of Fire vLth a specified Mobile Respiratory Air Truck. and it is our recommendation that the bid be awarded to this company; Mak.o Engineering. Their bid for the Respiratory Air Truck was for $71,980. We are proposing to purchase one item of optional equipment (Spec. Article VII, Iteru i 16) at the bid price of $722, for a total of $72,702. Our present Air Truck is in need i.epairs and even when fully operational on major fires, it is not capable of filling our present high pressure tanks quickly enough. With the pdrehasc of new ultra -high pressure masks which we are currently evaluating, the present air truck will become obsolete. Due to the model year changeover of the truck chassis, it is necessary that the Specifications be amended: 1.. Gener;i) . The six (6) month delivery date shall cor-rience when the chassis is delivered to the successful bidder's plant.
