HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0707RESOLUTION NO. 76-707 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY THROUGH THE MANPOWER PLANNING CONSORTIUM OF DADE AND MONROE COUNTIES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CITY'S CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, AMEND- ING THE AGREEMENT APPROVED BY CITY OF MIAMI RESOLUTION NO. 76-269, I3Y INCREASING THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE CURRENT CONTRACT TO $188,925 AND EXTENDING THE TIME OF PERFORMANCE TO SEPTEMBER 30, 1976. WHEREAS, the City of Miami has operated a CAREER DEVELOP- MENT Program under Title I of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act, during the past year; and WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Labor has approved funds to carry out the program through September 30, 1976; and WHEREAS, low income minorities and female residents of Miami continue to need this type of program to further their education and enhance their employment potential. The City Manager be and he is hereby author- ITEM NO. ized to execute an agreement with Metropolitan Dade County through the MANPOWER PLANNING CONSORTIUM of Dade and Monroe Counties for implementation of the City's Career Development Program, amending the agreement approved by City of Miami Resolution No. 76-269, by increasing the total amount of the current contract to $188,925 and extending the time of per- formance to September 30, 1976. Said contract was approved by Resolution No. R-1186-75, adopted on November 4, 1975. BE IT KNOWN THAT The purpose of this Agreement is to amend the above Mentioned contract, to reflect the following changes: ARTICLE II is amended to include Exhibit C (revised line item budget summary) and Exhibit D (revised program operating plan) attached hereto. ARTICLE III - TIME OF PERFORMANCE is arnend d to read as follows: This Contract shall become. effective upon ex-_cut_ion by the County Manager, on behalf of Metropolitan R•on3e County, as of the lst day of October., 1975, the services of the Contractor are to commence as soon as practicable after the effective date and shall be completed in light of the purposes of this Contract, no later than the 30th day of September, 1976. ARTICLE IV - COMPENSATION AND METHOD OF PA Y..ENT is amendeL by eliminating paragraph C therein and including paragraph C as follows: D. SUBJECT: REF E.NENCE.9: NCLOSURLS. i• • FIiE Resolution Authorizing Amend- ment of CETA Title I Miami Career Development Program Enclosed please find for your consideration a resolution authorizing an amendment of CETA, Title I, Miami Career Development Program contract, increasing the total amount of the original contract from $141,694 to $188,925 and extending the time of performance from June 30, 1976 to September 30, 1976. The amendment will enable the City of Miami to continue this program through the current fiscal year, thus avoiding any lay-offs. There are 31 Career Development Interns currently participating in the pro- gram.
