RESOLUTION NO. 76-670
7 RESOLUTION WAIVING TILE RE QUIRE_ILNT OF THE
CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR TILE RIVERSIDE 3APTIST
CHURCH BUILDINGS DEMOLITION - 1976, WHICH
REQUIRE THAT A FINANCIAL RATING OF A+A,A BE
POSSESSED BY TI-IE INSURANCL; CARRIER ISSUING
THE PERFORMANCE I30ND AND I::SURANCE FOR SAID
PROJECT; AND AUTHORIZING TILE AMENDMENT OF THE
CONTRACT DOCUMENTS TO REQUIRE THAT TILE INSUR-
ANCE CARRIER ISSUING THE PERFORMANCE BOND AND
INSURANCE FOR SAID PROJECT ONLY POSSESS A B+BBBI3
FINANCIAL RATING.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami received bids on April 26,
1976, for the RIVERSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDINGS DEMOLITION -
1976; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Resolution No. 76-493
awarded a contract for this improvement to Garcia Equipment
Corp. in the amount of $4,042.00; and
WHEREAS,
it is the City's stated
intention to help all
qualified minority contractors to perform work for the City; and
WHEREAS, Garcia Equipment Corp. has met all the technical
qualifications for being a licensed and insured contractor; and
WHEREAS, Garcia Equipment Corp. is only able to provide
the City with a performance bond and insurance issued by an
insurance carrier possessing a financial rating of B+BBBB; and
WHEREAS, present City contract documents require that
performance bonds and insurance of City contracts be issued by
insurance carriers possessing a financial rating of A+AAAA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: "DOCUMENT INDEX

Section 1. The requirement that the insurance carrier
issuing a performance bond or insurance possess the financial
rating of A+AA.A, as provided for in the proposed contract documents
for the RIVERSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDINGS DEMOLITION - 1976
awarded to Garcia Equipment Corp. is hereby waived.

Section 2. The proposed contract documents for the
RIVERSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH BUILDINGS DEMOLITION - 1976 are
hereby authorized to be amended to provide that the insurance
carrier issuing the performance bone: and insurance under said
contract be only required to possess a B+BBBB financial rating.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8 day of JULY , 1976.
