Dear Mr. Andrews:
I would like to present an immediate problem that
concerns our neighborhood to the City of Miami Com-
mission at the earliest possible meeting, preferably,
June 24, 1976..
I need ten minutes. The County has plans to condemn
our property for a public parking lot and the City
of Miami wants us to pay for installation of the
Simpson Park Sewer first. Construction of the sewer
lines is now two blocks away from our neighborhood.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

Dear Property Owner:
Proposed Simpson Sanitary Sewer
Improvement District SR-5391-C
In Your Neighborhood
The City of Miami plans to install sanitary sewers in your
neighborhood bounded by Biscayne Bay and I-95 from South
15 Road to and including the Viscaya Art Museum.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 1976 and the
improvement completed in October 1976. This improvement
will be known as .3IMPSON SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
SR-5391-C.
The cost of the sanitary sewers will be paid partly by
assessments against those properties that can be connected
to the new sewers and partly by the City at large. The
estimated property owner's total assessment fo" a 50-foot
lot frontage in, $930.00. This estimated total assessment
includes the cost of a 6-inch lateral from the sewer main to
your property line. If your property frontage is different,
you may obtain your approximate assessment by adding or
subtracting $8.00 per front foot difference from the amount
shown or, if you own an odd shaped lot, other factors will
be taken into consideration to make your assessment as fair
and equitable as possible and still remain within the
provisions of the City Charter.
You will be given the option of paying this assessment at the
time of billing or in ten equal yearly installments plus 5%
simple interest on any unpaid balance.

In addition to the above assessed charges for the
construction of sanitary sewers, the following charge
will also apply:
A charge for treatment and disposal of
wastewater will be added to your water bills
by the Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Authority
for all properties that can be connected to
this sanitary sewer. This 1_3 called a
"surcharge" and amounts to approximately
99% of the billing for water consumption.
The Authority operates and maintains the
sewer system to Virginia Key, the wastewater
treatment plant on Virginia Key and the ocean
outfall. The surcharge pays for a portion of
these facilities and their operation and
maintenance. The Authority will not place
this surcharge on your water bill until the
sewer system in your neighborhood is ready
for use, at which time you will be properly
notified.
If you would like additional information concerning the
proposed improvement, please call the Sewer Design Section
at 579-6865, or you are welcome to come to our Dinner Key
office at 3332 Fan American Drive, Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A public hearing on this improvement will be held after
9 a.m. on October 9, 1975, during the regular meeting of
the City Commission, in the Commission Chambers of the
Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive, Dinner Key
