HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0521RFC/rb S/25/76 RESOLUTION NO. 76S521 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF TRANS., PORTATION, FOR A COCONUT GROVE BIKEWAYS DEVELOP,, MENT PROGRAM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE GRANT AND EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE GRANT UPON RECEIPT OF SAID GRANT;AND ALLOCATING THE SUM OF $28,306 FROM THE CITY'S HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT BOND FUND TO BE USED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, IF NECESSARY, FOR THE LOCAL CASH MATCH OF 20% REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION. WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration has funds available to provide up to 80% of the total cost of a Bikeway Demonstration Program and at least 20% of the total cost must be provided by the governmental unit applying to participate in said program; and WHEREAS, Metropolitan Dade County and Florida Power and Light have indicated a willingness to provide certain goods and services to the City for a Coconut Grove Bikeways Develop- ment Program, which goods and services are reasonably valued at approximately $28,306 and can serve as the 20% local match requirement; and "D O C U M E N INDEX WHEREAS, these two bodies have noT a - - �� �� ' ti d'�� »ted themselves to providing these goods and services, it is neces- sary for the City to allocate a sum of $28,306 from the City's Highway Improvement Bond Fund to demonstrate its willingness to fully meet its matching obligations; and WHEREAS, if Metropolitan Dade County and Florida Power and Light provides these services, it is anticipated that no City cash will need to be expended on this Program; however, the best interests of the City will be served even if the expenditure is necessary; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to submit a grant application, to the Federal Highway Administration, bepartment of Trahaportatioh for a odonut CroVe HikeWays bevelopmeht Program, Section 2, The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the graht and execute the necessary contracts and agreements to implement the program Upon receipt of the grant. Section 3, The sum of $28,306 is hereby allocated from the City's Highway Improvement Bond Fund to be used, ih whole or in part, if necessary, for the local cash match of 20% required by the Federal Highway Administration.
