RESOLUTION NO. 6=48/
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE CITY OF
MIAMI DISASTER PREPAREDNESS ORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, (State Disaster
Preparedness Act of 1974) establishes the State Division of
Disaster Preparedness and prescribes the powers and responsi-
bilities thereof; and
WHEREAS, Section 38 of said Act authorizes and permits
each City of the State of Florida to establish a Disaster Pre-
paredness Organization for Civil Defense in accordance with the
State Civil Defense plans and programs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Miami does hereby establish the
Disaster Preparedness Organization to consist of the Commissioners
of the City of Miami who are duly elected public officials of
said City of Miami and the departments, agencies and services of
the City of Miami government to include its employees, property,
equipment and other resources which are administered by the City

Section 2. That the City of Miam aNeness
Director shall be appointed who will be responsible within the
policies and directives of the City Commission for the organi-
zation and plans for Civil Defense within the City of Miami in
accordance with the Florida State plans and programs and the
Metropolitan Dade County Emergency Operations Plan for its non-
military defense.
