HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0483RFC/rb S/11/76 RESOLUTION NO, 76=453 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND RATIFYING THE ACTION TAKEN BY THE CITY MANAGER IN THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND WELFARE FOR A CHILD DAY CARE PARENT TRAINING DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM AND AUTHOR- •IZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE GRANT AND EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM UPON RECEIPT OF THE GRANT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The action take by the City Manager in the submission of a Grant application to the U.S. Depart- ment of Health, Education and Welfare for a Child Day Care Parent Training Demonstration Program is hereby approved and ratified. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the Grant and agreements to implement 1976. execute the necessary contracts and the program upon receipt of the Grant. Parents of children currently enrolled in the City's three day care centers will be trained in both cog- nitive and affective child development skills. The program will demonstrate the effect this parent training will have on those children whose parents participate in the training. It is anticipated that these children will show significant improvement in their emotional development and in cognitive skills. No City cash is necessary for match. In -kind services con- sisting of 50% of the day care administrator's salary and general overhead will be used to satisfy the match require- ment
