A RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED LEGISLATION
By REPRESENTATIVE JOSEPH GERSTEN WHICH WOULD
ENABLE METER MAIDS TO ISSUE PARKING VIOLATION

WHEREAS, in November 1975 one judge of the County
Court of Dade County declared that meter maids had no authority
to issue parking violation citations; and
WHEREAS, meter maids perform a valuable function
in the regulation of parking in municipal parking areas for
the benefit of the public; and
WHEREAS, the function performed in the issuance of
traffic citations by meter maids permits the regular highly
trained police officers to perform the necessary duty of
protecting the safety of citizens; and
WHEREAS, Representative Joseph Gersten has proposed
the passage of legislation to be enacted'by the Legislature
of the State of Florida specifically authorizing meter maids
to issue parking violation citations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is extremely grateful
to Representative Gersten for his efforts to get meter maid
legislation passed; and
WHEREAS, this legislation will be helpful to all
municipalities that

OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Miami City Commission, onbehalf
of the City of Miami, Florida, does hereby unanimously
approve proposed legislation by Representative

Section 2. That a copy of this resolution be sent

City Commission of the City of Coral Gables on February 24, 1976,
approving proposed Meter Maid Legislation. In further explanation,

A RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED LEGISLATION BY REPRESEN.

PARKING VIOLATION CITATIONS.
WHEREAS, Representative Joseph Gersten has proposed the passage
of legislation to be enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Florida at its current session, enabling meter maids to issue parking
violation citations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Coral Gables is extremely grateful to
Representative Gersten for his efforts to get meter maid legislation
passed; and
WHEREAS, this legislation will be helpful to all municipalities
that use meter maids to issue parking violation citations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF CORAL GABLES:
(1) That the Coral Gables City Commission in behalf of the
City of Coral Gables, Florida, does hereby unanimously approve the
proposed legislation by Representative Joseph Gersten to enable
meter maids to issue parking violation citations.
(2) That a copy of this resolution be sent to ail parties
concerned with this legislation.
