RESOLUTION NO. 76-477_
A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO, 76 312,
ADOPTED MARCH 25, 1976, WHICH ACCEPTED THE
BID OF WITHERS VAN LINES FOR MOVING THE
MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT AT A TOTAL COST
OF $12,211 BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL SECTION
THERETO AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT BY THE CITY
TO WITHERS VAN LINES OF EXTRA CHARGES IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE OFFICIAL TARIFFS OF THE
FLORIDA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION, NOT TO
EXCEED THE AMOUNT BUDGETED BY THE DEPARTMENT,
IN THE EVENT SAID EXTRA CHARGES ARE SUPPORTED
IN WRITING, BASED UPON THE FACTORS OF MANPOWER,
EQUIPMENT AND TIME.
WHEREAS, on March 25, 1976 the City Commission
accepted the bid of WITHERS VAN LINES, a public moving
company, at a total cost figure of $12,211 to move the Miami
Police Department from the Municipal Justice Building to
its new quarters at 400 N.W. 2 Avenue, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, no public mover is allowed by law to
submit a fixed cost figure on any proposed moving job but
can only submit estimates based on manpower, equipment and
time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION

Section 1. Resolution No. 76-312 adopted March 25,
1976 is hereby amended in the following particulars:l/
"Section 1. The bid of WITHERS VAN LINES for
moving the Miami Police Department, at a total cost of $12,211.00,
is hereby accepted, and the City Manager is authorized and directed
to instruct the Purchasing Division to issue a purchase order
therefor.

Subject resolution awarded the contract to Withers
Van Lines for moving the Department of Police, in
the amount of $12,211.00 total cost.
The request for award and resolution dated March 15,
1976 recommended the award as an estimated cost clue
to the fact that the Florida Public Service Commission
regulations do not permit movers to bid fixed prices.
Therefore, it is requested that resolution number
76-312 be amended to read estimated cost in the
amount of $12,211.00.
