Invitations were railed to eight (8) potential suppliers and one (1) bid was received as follows: Dictaphone Corporation $7,918.00 Funds are available and are to be allocated from the Police and Crime Prevention Facilities Pond Funds. This is a regular purchase intended to extend the voice re- cording and playback capabilities of critical radio and tele- phone communications by allowing use of the secondary drive on an existing 4000 recorder to be dedicated to failover re- cording (and not playback). This equipment will be used by the Miami Police Dop;rtrnt Communications Unit. As a result of the Police Departments evaluation of Bid #75-76-75; it is recommended that award of Bid be made to Dictaphone Corp. in the amount of $7,918.00. This amount will cover: 1. 40 Channel Logging Reproducer and ancillary equipment. (Dictaphone model 4403) 2. One year full maintenance (to commence at end of warranty period). This recommendation is based on the following reasoning: 1. The Dictaphone hid was the only bid received. 2. The cost is reasonable and significantly lower than listed retail prices. 3. This item meets the specifications and cornpatability re- quirements. In response to specific questions in your April 6 memo, the following is presented: 1. Why: This is a regular purchase intended to extend the voice recording and playback capabilities of crit- ical radio and telephone communications by allowing use of the secondary drive on the existing 4000 recorder to be dedicated to failover recording (and not playback). 2. How Funded: This purchase will be funded by i'i.ii.P.D. Bonds as authorized by resolution75-383. 3. When: As soon as possible. 4. Where: This item will be used by the M.P.D. Communications Unit.
