A RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUIREMENT OF
THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS FOR THE CHOPIN
PLAZA STORM SEWER REPAIR y 1976 WHICH
REQUIRE THAT A FINANCIAL RATING OF A+AAA
BE POSSESSED BY THE INSURANCE CARRIER ISSU-
ING THE PERFORMANCE BOND AND INSURANCE FOR
SAID PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE AMENbMENT
OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS TO REQUIRE THAT
THE INSURANCE CARRIER ISSUING THE PERFORM-
ANCE BOND AND INSURANCE FOR SAID PROJEV
ONLY POSSESS A B+BBBB FINANCIAL RATING. SUPPORT!\!E

WHEREAS, on March 9, 1976 the City of Miami
received bids for construction of CHOPIN PLAZA STORM SEWER
REPAIR - 1976; and
WHEREAS, on March 25, 1976 the City Commission by
Resolution No. 76-344 awarded a contract for this improvement
to Irpco Paving Corporation in the amount of $37,984.40; and
WHEREAS, present City contract documents require
that performance bonds, insurance or City contracts be
issued by insurance carriers possessing a financial rating
of A+AAA; and
WHEREAS, Irpco Paving Corporation is able to pro-
vide the City with a performance bond and insurance issued by
an insurance carrier possessing a financial rating ofonly

WHEREAS, it is the City's sta4IcEMnia 1p
all qualified minority contractors to perform work for the
City; and
WHEREAS, Irpco Paving Corporation has met all the
technical qualifications for being a licensed and insured
contractor; and
WHEREAS, the Irpco Paving Corporation has recently
satisfactorily completed a City construction project; and
WHEREAS, the Small Business Administration has
declared in writing that it would guarantee up to 95% of the
contract cost if the Irpco Paving Corporation were to default;

NOW, THEHEFORF, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORtbA:
Section 1. The requirement that the insurance
carrier issuing a performance bond or insurance possess the
financial rating of A+AAA, as provided for in the proposed
contract documents for the CHOPIN PLAZA STORM SEWER REPAIR
1976 awarded to Irpco Paving Corporation is hereby waived.
Section 2. The proposed contract documents for

The City of Miami received bids for the Chopin Plaza
Storm Sewer Repair - 1976 on March 19, 19'(6 and awarded
a contract to Irpco Paving Co., Inc. on I.larch 25, 1976
by Resolution no. 76-31l1i
As per the contract documents the insurance carrier
that writes the performance bond and insurance must
be rated A+AAA. Irpco Pavin,. Co., Inc:. submitted an
insurance carrier w't h a rating of B+BBBI3 and also a
letter from the Small Business Association saying they
would {ua.ra.ni;''e up to 955 of the contract :if they were
to default.
Irpco Paving Co., Inc. Is a minority contractor and it
is the City t s state:; intention to help all qualified
minority cont?'actor;; to perform work for the City.
This company has cnr::oleted a contract for us for Grapeland
Heights Park - Parkin ; 1:mprovemont and his work was
satisfactory.
