Please prepare for the next available City Commission meeting A RESOLU-
TION SANCTIONING THE ISSUANCE OF A PERMIT AND GRANT OF EASEMENT TO THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH IN ORDER TO INSTALL AND MAINTAIN A 54- INCH FORCE
MAIN ON CITY PROPERTY LOCATED ON VIRGINIA KEY FOR THE PURPOSE OF CON-
VEYING SEWAGE FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO THE MIAMI-DADE WATER AND
SEWER AUTHORITY SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT AT VIRGINIA KEY; AND AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE SAID PERMIT AND TO EXECUTE AND
DELIVER THE AFORESAID GRANT OF EASEMENT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
PERTINENT INFORMATION
A. In the design of the force main installation proposed to serve
the City of Miami Beach, it was found that the best possible
location for this installation was under and across the City of
Miami property located on Virginia Key.
B. In order to proceed with this project, a permit and a grant of
a 25-foot easement (copy attached), is required from the City
of Miami for the construction, installation and maintenance of
this force main, which will carry sewage to Virginia Key.
C. The Department of Public Works has investigated this request
and recommends the issuance of the permit and grant of easement.
It is now in order for the City Commission to sanction the
issuance of said permit and the granting of the said easement
to the City of Miami Beach.

The City of Miami Beach has requested a permit to install a 54-inch
force main on City property located on -Virginia Key in order to trans-
mit raw sewage from the City of Miami Beach to the Miami -Dade Water
and Sewer Authority Sewage Treatment Plant on Virginia Key.
In order to maintain this facility, the City of Miami Beach will also
require the granting of a 25-foot easement.
The City of Miami is in full accord with the City of Miami Beach's
routing of this force main which is designed to be installed between
the City of Miami Beach, across Government Cut, Fisher Island and
Norris Cut to the Miami -Dade Water and Sewer Authority Treatment Plant
on Virginia Key.
THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS RECOMMENDS THE ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION
GRANTING A PERMIT AND A 25-FOOT WIDE EASEMENT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH FOR THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF A 54-INCH FORCE MAIN ON
CITY PROPERTY AT VIRGINIA KEY FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRANSMITTING SEWAGE
FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO THE MIAMI-DADE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY
TREATMENT PLANT ON VIRGINIA KEY; AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ISSUE SAID PERMIT AND TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER THE AFORESAID
GRANT OF EASEMENT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.

ACTION__T0_BE, TAKEN
1. The City Manager is authorized and directed to issue
a permit and grant of easement to the City of Miami Beach
in order to install and maintain a 54-inch force main under
and across City of Miami property located on Virginia Key
for the purpose of transmitting raw sewage from the City of
Miami Beach to the Miami -bade Water and Sewer Authority
Treatment Plant on Virginia Key.
