RESOLUTION NO. 46'330
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MANY PERSONS WHO HAVE
VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME IN THE MIAMI RIVER CLEANUP
PROJECT AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER TO NOTIFY
THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY INVOLVED IN THIS
PROJECT TO RENDER FULL COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE
TO THE MIAMI RIVER INTER -CITY BOARD, INC., THE
SPONSORS OF THIS PROJECT, ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY,
APRIL 10 AND 11, 1976, THE 1976 MIAMI RIVER CLEANUP
DAYS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The many persons who have volunteered their
time and interest in the Miami River Cleanup Project are
hereby commended and thanked for this splendid demonstration
of civic pride and devotion.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby instructed to
notify the varius departments of the City involved in this
Project to render full cooperation and assistance to the Miami
River Inter -City Board, Inc., the sponsors of this Project,
on Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, 1976, the 1976 Miami
River Cleanup Days.

The Third Annual Miami River Regatta is scheduled for April 23, 24 and 25,
1976. However, prior to that event, sponsored by the same Miami River
Inter -City Board, Inc., will be the annual !fiver Cleanup.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, 1976, volunteers will assist in
this effort to restore the beauty and viability of the Miami River. The
volunteer organization is known as "React".
It is hoped, by this memorandum, that the City of Miami will once again
back this project by Resolution (to be presented to Rocco Pace at the March
25, 1976 City Commission meeting) and by making equipment, some personnel and
publicity attailable. Our past efforts contributed substanially....and can
again.

letter have requested Mr.. Rocco Pace, 1460

you, the Mayor and City Commissioners of Miami.

The Miami River Cleanup, a project of the Miami River Inter City
Board, will take place Saturday and Sunday, April l0t:h and llth
under the direct supervision of "React".
Thanks to the thousands of volunteers under the guidance of the Miami
River Restoration Commission and your cooperation, the Miami River
system has survived the 4 year "Intensive care" period. The "recovery
period" is now of vital concern and importance.
We are asking each of the eight communities, all of which are members
of the Miami River Inter City Board whose communities are located on
t:he upland areas of. the Miami River System, to cooperate by passing a
resolution hacking up the work of these volunteers by having the hags
of litter, etc., accuinrnulated and placed alongside city streets and
right of ways he picked up and disposed of by the City Sanitation and
Trash Colleciton Department. This resolution wilt be helpful in
alerting many people in the community that we can and will have clean
water, a great asset to any community. This resolution will also act
as back up support for "React", which as you know, is made up of a
dedicated group of volunteers. They will be using the Miami River
Inter City Board's office in the Hialeah Jaycee Bldg., as their
headquarters for emergency communication control.
This porject will be completed just prior to the Third Annual Miarni
River Regatta which is scheduled for April 23rd, 24th and 25th.
